Malachite is copper carbonate and occurs in the oxidized portion of copper
mines. Its color ranges from light to dark green, usually in bands or concentric
circles.

Malachite is worn to warn of approaching danger by breaking in pieces.
This stone is a mirror of the soul and of the emotions. When you are in
a positive mood it amplifies that mood, but beware the reverse is also true,
and care should be taken not to wear malachite when emotionally "down".

When used over the solar plexus, Malachite has the ability to dredge up
buried emotional pain. When the pain is expressed, you can release the heavy
weight of the grief you have been carrying, and this leads to joy. It is like a
good, honest friend who will tell you the truth about yourself and help bring
to the surface that which is unknown or unseen to your own conscious mind.

When using Malachite to deal with buried emotions, it is best to use in
conjunction with Rhodochrosite, which will help with the healing process.

Like its cousin Turquoise, Malachite is a relatively soft stone. It is often made
into beads, cabochons tumbled or carved into shapes. Just be wary of
scratching polished surface or breaking if hit hard. It is also porous and
care must be taken when using chemicals.
