Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is a combination of minerals - lazurite, calcite and pyrite primarily. Afghanistan lapis is prized for its showy pyrite inclusions, while Chilean lapis
tends to be lighter in color due to a higher percentage of calcite, and contains
little pyrite. The best lapis is a deep rich blue with well distributed fine flecks
of pyrite. Too much pyrite causes stones to look greenish and dull. Too much
calcite lightens color. However, this lighter lapis has recently found a niche in
the jewelry trade as "denim" lapis, because of the color resemblance.

Magickally, use in rituals to attract spiritual love. Take a piece of lapis with
sharp edge and inscribe a heart on pink candle. Place stone near candle, light
candle and envision a love coming into your life.

In healing, lapis alleviates fevers and diseases of the blood.

Through the ages, lapis has been associated with power, wisdom, love and most frequently as a stimulant for psychic abilities. It makes us more open in all
ways, including openness to psychic experience. Wear everyday to increase
your overall psychic awareness.

The golden specks within the deep blue are expressions of starlight.
Lapis, the Star Goddess of stones, knows the deep mysteries of night
and space and opens the soul to spirit quest of the deepest nature.

Astrological Sign of Sagittarius. Sixth chakra.

Lapis Lazuli is a little soft to wear as day to day jewelry. It scratches fairly
easily and may loose its high polish in daily wear. It is also very sensitive to
chemicals (cleaning) and even hot baths. However, magickally, it is very much
desirable – so just wear with care!
